CALTRANS – San Rafael Bridge,
San Francisco/Oakland, California

CALTRANS needed a solution for protecting concrete piers and girders of the San Rafael Bridge from the turbulent and corrosive sea water between San Francisco and Oakland. Our heavy duty, chemical resistant polyurea (previously called Engineered Polymers RSP-AL) was selected to meet the challenge. Our 100% Wet Cure Epoxy was used as a primer and the polyurea coating was then applied with a plural component high-pressure spray machine. This fast-curing, low odor, no VOC coating achieved an eco-friendly solution, minimizing downtime and extending the life span of the bridge significantly.

Our polyurea is a tough, low maintenance coating, designed to provide superior long-term performance under rigorous service conditions. It is suitable for interior and exterior applications, and provides anti-graffiti protection.

Our coatings prolong the service life of infrastructure and provide an excellent barrier from aggressive chemicals and acids. Aggregate may be broadcast into the coatings to provide a textured, non-slip surface for an extra measure of safety.

Ecolink’s coatings contain no VOC’s and are no/low odor. They meet USDA/FDA/CFIA requirements for incidental food contact and for use in regulated food facilities.

All Ecolink products are Green Building Materials and qualify for LEED credits.
